Using the proportional assignment, the double (triple,
quadruple, quintuple, sextuple, …) of one size is assigned to the double
(triple, quadruple, quintuple, sextuple, …) of the other.
The pairs of numbers have the same quotient in a
proportional assignment, which for example means: 1
à
2 (2:1) = 2 à
4 (4:2) = 3 à
6 (6:3).
The assignment should be written as follows: x
à
k ∙ x. In the example 1
à
2 corresponds 1 = x und 2 = k.
When we represent an assignment of this kind in a
coordinate system, all points that can come out as the answer lie on a
straight (in this example the straight goes through the origin , that is why
it is also called the origin straight).
